Kulula.com confirms that their ticket prices will not be affected by the new implementation of an aviation fuel levy in South Africa.

The South African government announced that the SA Civil Aviation Authority adapted their Levies Act. The adaption is related to a levy of 16.4-cents/litre for fuel distilled, imported, manufactured, or sold in South Africa. This levy will come into effect on 1 April 2018.
According to the notice the levy is payable by consumers as well as the wholesale distributor.
Kulula confirmed that the levy will not affect their ticket prices at all. Susan van der Ryst, Corporate Communications Head from parent company Comair Limited, said that Comair pays a Passenger Safety Charge. This exempts Kulula.com from paying the fuel levy cited in the government gazette.
Susan van der Ryst said, "The fuel levy is a South African Civil Aviation Authority funding mechanism aimed at general aviation – as opposed to airlines and charter services,"
ACSA and SAA fails to reply to questions asked by public, and no further information was received from them.
