Parliament’s ANC caucus met this morning to discuss the NEC’s decision to recall Zuma.

Paul Mashatile, ANC treasurer says that today is Zuma's deadline to leave office. This announcement was made after the caucus meeting this morning in order to discuss the NEC's decision to recall Zuma.
The NEC met on Monday to discuss the possibilities of Zuma's recall. Eyewitness News reported that Zuma was told he could avoid a recall if he resigned earlier on Monday. But he reportedly told ANC officials: "Do what you want to do", this paved the way for the ANC move. After a 13-hour meeting on Monday the NEC only announced on Tuesday that the decision was made to recall Zuma.
The NEC's announcement to recall Zuma was given at the Luthuli House by ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule. He said he had given Zuma time and space to respond but no deadline was given, however he expects Zuma to respond today - [Wednesday: 14/02/2018]
Rand strengthening: After the news of Wednesday's deadline was revealed, the rand strengthened to a two-and-a-half-year high of R11.79
What can South Africans expect?
Zuma is likely to face a no-confidence vote in parliament if he rejects his party's call to resign. The NEC's decision to recall Zuma does not force him to step down, it simply shows that he no longer favours his political party's support. This means that if Zuma refuses to step down the decision will be taken to Parliament, where there already have been arguments under ANC members over Zuma's continued stay at the Union Buildings.
